The Clarksville Chess Club does not charge membership dues nor fees of any kind. However, once a year, in the winter, we ask anyone who wishes to do so, to make a voluntary donation, in any amount. With the money we collect in this manner, we buy Chess books to donate to the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library.

We have been doing this for four years. It has become tradition for each of our members to donate twenty dollars each year. Some of our members also donate Chess books directly to the Library as individuals. Because of these efforts and the Library's willingness to acquire Chess books on it's own, the Library's collection of Chess books  as of 5/4/2008 totaled 292! The 63 books our club has donated over the past four years have a face value of $1244.14.

The Chess Club will accept donations of books or money for this purpose at any time during the year. We only make a formal request once annually. All donations for the book drive are strictly voluntary, and the club is still free and open to the public whether you participate in the book drive or not.

This is just a small way we have found to share our passion with the community. The Chess Club would like to encourage everyone to consider the Public Library as a cause worthy of your generosity.
